Lamborghini "New Supercar Model" at Frankfurt Motor Show

What is claimed to be an official press invitation from Lamborghini for the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in the form of an image that was allegedly sent through email is making the internet rounds today.

The invitation reads: "Discover a new Lamborghini super sports car at the next Frankfurt Motor Show. Press conference 13/09/11, 12:45, Lamborghini stand at IAA."
We can't be 100 percent sure about its authenticity, but if real, it raises the question what will this new "Lamborghini super sports car" be? The answer could be anything from the production version of the evil-looking Sesto Elemento and either a roadster or a more extreme version of the new Aventador, or perhaps a different concept model altogether. Follow the jump to share your thoughts in the comments section.

Lamborghini Sues Las Vegas Business

Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has unleashed a snarling pack of lawyers against the owners of an exotic car showroom, merchandise gallery and restaurant at the Palazzo resort in Las Vegas.
Lamborghini’s lawsuit claims that the companies that operate Dal Toro Exotic Car Showroom, Merchandise Gallery and Ristorante Italiano have been using the brand’s raging bull logo.
The Las Vegas Sun reported that the lawsuit states: "Brashly, defendants prominently display a large and striking Lamborghini bull-in-shield protected design mark at the entrance of defendants' premises and a Lamborghini protected type mark within defendants' exotic car showroom”.
Lamborghini's trademark infringement action filed in a Las Vegas court this past Wednesday also states that Dal Toro has been selling “knockoff” products and accessories at its stores.
“Defendants’ advertisement, promotion and sale of the knockoff products is part of a sophisticated and elaborate scheme to target Lamborghini, to create products that are similar in appearance to well-known Lamborghini products, and to trade upon the goodwill and reputation associated with Lamborghini and its high quality, distinctive product lines, including by deliberately misleading the public and the trade as to the authenticity, source, affiliation or sponsorship of defendants’ operations and products.”
Lorenzo Barracco, a manager at Dal Toro, told the Las Vegas Sun that he was unaware of the lawsuit.

Fiero-Based Lamborghini Diablo Replica with BMW V12 Power

If a Fiero-based Ferrari replica is a “Fierrari”, then I figure its Lamborghini equivalent must be a “Lambieroghini”. Here’s one such monstrosity for sale on eBay, though on closer inspection there’s a lot to like about it.
For one, though it’s incomplete, much of the grunt work has already been done. The unpainted fibreglass body that replicates the Diablo VT 6.0's styling has been mated to the tubular steel frame and the gas door struts, power window motors and headlights have all been installed.
Also, the brake rotors are from a Corvette and the wheels are genuine 2004 Lamborghini MurciĆ©lago 18-inch stock clad in Pirelli P-Zero rubber.
There are also stainless steel exhaust tips, an aluminium gauge panel and all the required interior fibreglass components and switchgear graphics included with the car though not fitted. Same goes for the OEM taillights and door glass.
Better still is what’s under the hood: a BMW M70 5.0 L V12, the same one used in the E32 7-Series and E31 8-Series, mated to an Audi Getrag 016 5spd manual tranny - though the supplied clutch and flywheel have yet to be installed. The same goes for the engine wiring, sensors and the ECU.
The bad news? Well, there’s no windshield or three-quarter-glass and you’d have to live with the fact that underneath it’s a 1988 Pontiac Fiero. Though the price is currently at a reasonable US$11,100, the seller is quick to point out:
“This is not a complete working car. It is being sold as a project car. It cannot be driven, it will need to be towed. It is highly recommended that you come see the car before purchasing if possible.”
So what’s the verdict? Would you or wouldn’t you? Be sure to check out our fully gallery of image below and leave a comment with your decision.
