Mercedes-Benz is at last beginning to react to its two premium German brethren’s continuing model onslaught on the world. Following the decision to produce the CLC four-seat sedan, it appears the company will quickly follow up with a CLC Shooting Brake, according to Automotive News Europe. The car would compete with the Audi A5 Sportback and the upcoming BMW 3 Series GT.
The CLC Shooting Brake will be a hybrid between sports wagon, hatchback and station wagon, but at the same time be smaller than the bigger CLS Shooting Brake. Its engines will reflect what is currently on the company roster, including the 1.8-litre turbo with 115kW and 150kW, as well as the 3.5-litre V6 of 225kW. Along the way an AMG version should pop up sporting either the old 6.2-litre V8 (331kW) or the 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 (310kW). Turbo diesels will also be on offer for the range.
